Cinema City acquires Palace Cinemas chain in CEE

Cinema City International acquired 100% of the equity of four companies from the Palace Cinemas’ chain in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The operations of the sold entities add up to 15 multiplexes with 141 screens. The acquisition makes Cinema City the third largest cinema operator in Europe with 90 multiplexes, 866 screens and extends its geographical coverage to seven courtiers with the inclusion of Slovakia.

Penta Reaches Deal With Britian's Tesco for Żabka's Czech Assets

Penta Investments has begun putting into motion its previously announced plans to divest itself of Żabka by selling the majority of Żabka's assets in the Czech Republic. The deal, the value of which has been placed at CZK 1.02 billion, gives control of 81 Żabka franchises and 47 Koruna stores to Tesco, a British supermarket concern. Once the deal is approved by regulators and completed, Tesco will have solidifed its Czech presence through control of most of Żabkas Czech assets.
