Solar-heated Pools for Taiwan National Athletic Games

Both the National High School Athletic Games (April 2011) and the National Intercollegiate Athletics (May 2011) were held at the National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) located in Taichung City, Taiwan. To prepare for these important events, 691 sqm of collector area were set up, heating pool water through sunlight. The operating solar thermal system was planned and installed by Taiwanese company Sunwe Pools Enterprise Co., Ltd. based in the same city.

Made in Taiwan is a brand name which still sells in solar thermal systems

Taiwanese solar thermal water heating system manufacturers confirm that flat plate collectors are still used in 90% of all installations. With an estimated 12,000 sqm of national monthly production capacity, the solar water heating industry is dominated by flat plate collector manufacturers. Although mainland Chinese manufacturers try to import cheaper vacuum tube collectors, Taiwanese prefer flat plate technology in industrial and private installations.
